About the Exhibition
To fully enjoy Ye Olde Clock Shoppe visitors should imagine themselves walking in some back corner of London, spying a tiny clock shop and popping inside to see what treasures await. Be hypnotized by the back-and-forth movement of the pendulums. Listen to old familiar melodies play as the clocks gong out of the hour. Yet despite the winsome fantasy just suggested, this is an exhibition more about process than narrative. The primary intention of the installation is to reaffirm the artist’s commitment to craftsmanship. A year ago, as she was rushing to meet some deadlines, she noticed herself taking shortcuts. While no one else would have likely noted a difference, she vowed to herself to never do less than her best again. Thus, returning to functional work she focused her attention on the importance and value of good craftsmanship. That is why included with the 26 clocks the artist includes evidence of the process like her templates and her sketchbook.
