Artist Talk & Demo: "All about Alcohol Inks" with Kristie Golden

  • Goldmark Cultural Center 13999 Goldmark Drive Dallas, Texas, 75240 United States (map)

Join us at the Goldmark Cultural Center at 1.00pm on Thursday, 10/13, or Saturday, 10/15, for another presentation in our monthly Goldmark Artist Talk series.

The featured Goldmark artist for October is Kristie Golden, and the presentation will be held in the auditorium space at 14001 Goldmark Dr, Dallas TX, 75240.

About the Demo

Kristie’s presentation will include an artist talk and demo on the subject of alcohol inks. This includes:

  • Basics of alcohol inks, plus safety

  • Items around your home to use to get started

  • Hands-on demonstration

  • Properly sealing and framing alcohol ink art

The hands-on demo portion of the presentation will generate some alcohol fumes, so anyone with sensitivity to alcohol fumes or an existing lung condition should bring their own respirator if they wish to participate in the demo.

The presentation will conclude with a visit to Kristie’s art studio at the Goldmark Cultural Center.

About the Artist

I am an Oregonian twice removed, (California, now Texas) who married late in life and has three kids. My husbands job moved us here in 2012.

I've enjoyed art my entire life and tried expanding my knowledge of different art techniques whenever I had spare time.

During COVID we had 5 of us working/schooling from home. The youngest 11, the rest adults. It was too much to be trapped in the house for that long, with that many people, for me. I'm thankful that my husband suggested I find a place to do my art and finally put myself out there.

In Feb of 2022 I rented my first studio and gave myself 6 months to try and do something. Well that was a rude awakening to think the quality I'm looking for, would be ready in 6 months. Today I have decided to go a bit further with my art and stick around Goldmark as I have learned more than I could possibly pay for. I'm excited to see what happens in the next few years.

I love to show people how to use this medium as we all have the ability to have a unique style. I'm nervous to do this for the first time, but we all had to do everything for the "first time". I hope to see you there and I hope you feel free to tell me to slow down as I have a tendency to speak quickly.
