I AM

  • Goldmark Cultural Center 13999 Goldmark Drive Dallas, Texas, 75240 United States (map)

The Goldmark Cultural Center is proud to present “I AM”, a pop-up exhibition of sculptural works painted works by Goldmark artist Jacqueline Jackson. This exhibition is on display in the Goldmark Artists’ Showcase from 3/14 to 3/27, with an exhibition reception on Saturday, 3/19, from 1.00pm - 3.00pm.

This exhibition examines several techniques and mediums. The images and ceramic pieces were chosen to display the emotions of how we feel. The pieces selected for this exhibition reflect the emotions of inner peace and inner turmoil. As the focal point, I selected the piece entitled “The inner man”. I chose this piece because it shows the darkness that we think about ourselves and what we believe the world thinks of us. It is not who GOD say we are so if we focus on what God says about us then our inner thoughts would shift positively.

Who is it that God say I AM? I am complete in Him Who is the head over all rule and authority—of every angelic and earthly power (Colossians 2:10). I am alive with Christ (Ephesians 2:5). I am free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). I am far from oppression, and will not live in fear (Isaiah 54:14). I am born of God, and the evil one does not touch me (1 John 5:18). I am holy and without blame before Him in love (Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 1:16). I have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:5). I have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). I AM who He says I AM!

About the artist
Jacqueline Vernon Jackson was born in Independence, Louisiana. She established an early interest in art making while growing up. She often competed with her brothers in drawing contests and brick making from the local red clay on their family farm. Jacqueline is a painter and ceramic artist living in Cedar Hill, Texas with her husband. Her studio is 152B at the Goldmark Cultural Center. Jacqueline earned a BAS in Art Studies and Information Management from Wayland Baptist University and is also a retired Air Force veteran.

Painting and creating with clay bring her peace and provides her a place to reflect on what God want her to do in this world.

Jacqueline has broadly exhibited her work in her travels while being on active duty in the Air Force. Her preferred medium is painting in acrylic on canvas, and more recently in the past year she has been creating in clay.
