The Goldmark Cultural Center is proud to present “Sisco Solo”, a pop-up exhibition of landscape oil paintings by Goldmark artist Kirk Sisco.
This exhibition is on display in the Goldmark Artists’ Showcase from 4/19 to 4/30, with a closing reception on Saturday, 4/30, from 1.00pm - 3.00pm at the Goldmark Cultural Center (13999 Goldmark Dr, Dallas TX 75240).
Kirk will be present at the closing reception to speak to visitors about his work and answer any questions.
This show is just me finding out how far I can stretch an impressionist approach to moving color around on a blank canvas while obeying some simple traffic rules I've learned over the years; composition, dimension, perspective, perfecting the palette, spontaneity and economy.
In other words, spinning a lot of plates at the same time, hopefully without embarrassing myself.
I like to paint colors and shapes. Like other artists, I find I get better results if I stay away from painting the "thing", whether it's a building, a mountain, a cloud, a car or water, and concentrate on one simple goal, which is to get the balance and organic results that come with keeping it simple, noticing how light, color and shadow look on a surface.
That's what I was going for in making my selections for this show. I hope you like looking at it as much as I enjoy doing it!
