Next weekend, Houston artist Venessa Monokian will be visiting the Goldmark Cultural Center for the installation of "Pretty in Pink", her upcoming exhibition in our Norman Brown Gallery.
Since Venessa is coming all the way from Houston for her exhibition install, we would love to have a few Goldmark artists on hand to assist Venessa with unloading and installing her artwork in our Brown Gallery. This will also be a great opportunity for everyone to meet an interesting visiting artist and learn from her about her artwork and exhibition, especially since Venessa is unable to return to Dallas to do an artist talk or reception for her exhibition.
Venessa is also a member of Houston's Box13 ArtSpace collective, which provides affordable art studios and gallery spaces for a homegrown artist community, very similar to what we are doing with the Goldmark Cultural Center. So Venessa's visit and exhibition will be a really interesting professional exchange between our Goldmark artist community and the Box13 artist community, who are now accepting exhibition proposals for their 2024 galleries schedule.
If you would like to join us for Venessa's exhibition install, come to the Norman Brown Gallery in Building 14001 next Sunday, 9/24. We expect the exhibition install to begin around 9am and continue into the afternoon. We appreciate anyone who is able to stop by and help, for as little or long as possible. If you can, let us know by this Friday 9/22 if you plan to join us for the install.
We will also be giving Venessa a prviate tour of the Goldmark Cultural Center next Saturday, 9/23, around 3.00pm - 4.00pm.
If you plan to open your studio on Saturday afternoon and would like for us to stop by, please let us know by this Friday 9/22, so that we can try to include your studio in the tour. Venessa is really interested in getting an overview of the Goldmark artist community during her tour and meeting some Goldmark artists.
