"Ceramics on the Wall VI" - Exhibition Install Day

Join us at the Goldmark Cultural Center on Thursday, 7 November 2024, from 10am - 4pm for the install day of “Ceramics on the Wall VI”. Bring your wall hanging ceramic artwork ready to install and be included in this annual juried exhibition, which will be on display at the Goldmark Cultural Center from 11 November 2024 to 18 December 2024!

EXHIBITION DATES:  Nov. 11 – Dec. 18, 2024

EXHIBITION VENUE: Goldmark Cultural Center - 13999 Goldmark Dr, Dallas, TX 75240

INSTALL: Artists must bring and install their artwork at the Goldmark Cultural Center on Thursday, Nov. 7, between 10 am - 4 pm. 

DEINSTALL: Artists must come to the Goldmark Cultural Center to take home their artwork on Thursday, Dec. 19, between 10 am - 4 pm.

RECEPTION and AWARDS CEREMONY: Nov. 23, 2024, from 1 pm – 3 pm at the Goldmark Cultural Center. Juror awards (Best in Show, Award of Merit, and Honorable Mention) will be presented. The Best in Show will be awarded a solo exhibition at the Goldmark Cultural Center's John H. Milde Gallery or Norman Brown Gallery. 

MEDIA: All work must be primarily ceramics. Mixed media works will be accepted only when clay is the dominant material. Ceramic work must be installed on the wall with a hanging system that securely adheres to the wall. Individual Objects should weigh less than 25 lbs. More significant artworks designed to be assembled from multiple parts modularly may be accommodated.

ENTRY IS FREE: No online submission is required; bring one artwork to the Nov. 7 install day at the Goldmark Cultural Center. 

Goldmark committee members and staff reserve the right to exclude from the exhibition ceramic works in an unstable condition. Artist must fill out and sign a release form on the installation day. Goldmark Cultural Center does not provide insurance for artists’ work, and Goldmark will retain a 30% commission on all sales. Artist is solely responsible for installing, de-installing, and picking up work at Goldmark Cultural Center. 

This exhibition opportunity is only available to artists 18 years of age or older.

ABOUT THE JURORS:

Karmien Bowman received her Bachelor of Arts in ceramics from University of Texas and her Master of Fine Arts. As professor of ceramics at Tarrant County College, Northeast Campus for over thirty years she inspired many students. Her ceramic work has been exhibited and collected nationally. Her public art commissioned bronzes can be seen at Northlakes Park and Heritage Park.

Ariel Bowman, a sculptor raised in Dallas, Texas, draws inspiration from the natural world surrounding her childhood home. She works primarily with clay, using mixed-media techniques, and has earned degrees from the Kansas City Art Institute and the University of Florida. Ariel has studied abroad and has been recognized with various fellowships and residencies. Her works have been collected by prestigious institutions such as the Belger Arts Center, the Florida Museum of Natural History, and the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts.
