The Shape of Stories is an exhibition showcasing recent works by international artists and American artists with overseas origins. Reaching across a multitude of different mediums including various three dimensional and two dimensional forms, the featured works are representative of a wide range of technical disciplines and design philosophies. On a superficial level, the heterogeneity of the featured works can be said to reflect the artists' eclectic international origins and cultural backgrounds. When viewed as complementary elements of a cumulative exhibition, however, the featured works constitute a tangible manifestation of the universal yearning for creative expression. In this respect, the capacity of the visual arts to intuitively convey and communicate the stories, perspectives, and experiences of the artist is a shared constant which transcends boundaries of nationality, culture, and language. By displaying such a diverse collection of works in the same physical space, the exhibition enables visitors to experience a rich sampling of visual arts from near and far, while simultaneously illustrating the universal ability for such varied arts to evoke the same familiar emotions and feelings common to all cultures and peoples.
Featured artists include Yen Chen, Pamela Cyril-Egware, Jenny DeLaughter, Shin Yeon-Jeon, Yoshinaga Kawamura, Yen-Hua Lee, Koi Neng Liew, Silvia Lopez-Mendoza, Kris Lyons, Dy Le Nam, Anh-Thuy Nguyen, Johnson Oladesu, Tolulope Sobowale, Gregory Troik, and Joseph Yeh.
