About Margo Lee Miller and The Elegance of Nature

I am a contemporary artist currently working with acrylic, collage, and mixed media. In this show, The Elegance of Nature - Flora and Fauna Framed in Gold, I combine the abstract and the representational to emphasize the surprises of nature set in unnatural environs. By using metallic elements and other papers, the art creates a shimmering effervescence that contrasts with the stoic beauty of nature. The natural image breaks the boundaries of the gold frame and presents the viewer with the sense that nature cannot be confined. I encourage the viewer to appreciate both the beauty in nature and the beautiful complexity of our world. I am a native Texan, and received a B.A. in Art from Southern Illinois University and an M.L.A. from Southern Methodist University. I have taught art in public schools, groups and private sessions and have exhibited in galleries from Chicago to Dallas. I have a studio in the Goldmark Cultural Center in Dallas and one in the home that I share with my artist/engineer husband, Michael.
