Join us on Tuesday, March 10, at 1pm for our monthly Goldmark Speaker Series presentation.
This month’s featured talk will be presented by Benjamin Munoz, who will be discussing the art of printmaking, how he got into it, and his current process for printmaking.
The presentation will conclude with a demo in which Benjamin will ink up and print a pre-carved wood block on his press. Benjamin will also show attendees how to run prints themselves on the press, and attendees will be allowed to take home the prints they create during the demo.
Admission to the talk is free, but you are suggested to bring your own lunch.
The talk will be held in the Goldmark Cultural Center’s auditorium space at 14001 Goldmark Drive, Dallas TX 75240.
About Benjamin Munoz
Benjamin Muñoz is an award winning printmaker and painter living in Dallas Texas. His work is often reflective of his heritage, upbringing, and current surroundings. Telling stories through his work, Munoz seeks to provide a narrative for his family and ancestors using imagery and composition to convey the physical and emotional journeys of his family and people. Muñoz often stacks the imagery in his work to symbolize how everything in life is dependent on what came before it, the idea that each generation supports the next.
Benjamin attended Del Mar College where he studied studio art. Craving a more personal dynamic he began engaging in apprenticeships and one-on-one critiques with art professors such as Jerry Corbaruvius and Joe Peña.
Muñoz has had articles about his work published and discussed in several arts and culture publications, blogs, podcasts and portfolios. Benjamin has also had several solo exhibitions throughout the nation and regularly gives artist talks at studios, galleries, and universities.
