Artist Talk & Demo: "Your Image Here", with Marc Lyman

  • Goldmark Cultural Center 13999 Goldmark Drive Dallas, Texas, 75240 United States (map)

Join us at the Goldmark Cultural Center at 1.00pm on Thursday, 7/28, or Saturday, 7/30, for another presentation in our monthly Goldmark Artist Talk series.

The featured Goldmark artist for July is Marc Lyman, and the presentation will be held in the auditorium space at 14001 Goldmark Dr, Dallas TX, 75240.

About the Talk
After a brief introduction covering his background as an artist, Marc will be speaking in detail about the digital decals he produces for glass and ceramics and about how they are used.

He will have samples of finished products and will perform a demo of the application process, followed by a discussion of the firing process required to make them permanent. Attendees will be able to try the application process for themselves using sample decals on ceramic blanks as part of the hands-on demo.

Marc will also distribute sample decals to those interested, to use for testing purposes with their own work.

A question and answer period will conclude the presentation.

About the Artist

"While I have had a “day job” for the entirety of my working life, I have also had some sort of artistic endeavor to which I dedicated most of my interest and as much of my free time as possible. Over the years, I have learned to incorporate photos and other graphic images into the medium with which I was working. I have used images with quiltmaking, screen printing, small sculptural pieces using shrinkable plastics, fusible (aka “warm”) glass, and most recently, ceramics.

Having finally left both the corporate world and the classroom, I am at last able to devote my full time to creative pursuits. I currently own a laser printer that has been modified to print water slide decals using ceramic pigment for toner. These prints can be used to decorate both on glass and glazed ceramic pieces. I am also experimenting with using silk screen techniques and pigment/carrier blends to widen the color palette and media I can work with. I am actively seeking out collaborative partners including ceramic, glass, visual and any other kind of artist that would like to join in on collaboratively creative projects."
