The Goldmark Cultural Center is proud to present “I Am Hear”, a pop-up exhibition featuring acrylic paintings by Goldmark artist Maureen Womack. “I Am Hear” is on display in the Goldmark Artists’ Showcase from 17 August 2022 to 3 September 2022, with an exhibition reception on Saturday, 27 August 2022 from 1.00 - 3.00pm. Maureen will be present at the reception to respond to questions or comments about her work.

About the Exhibition
“I Am Hear” is Maureen Womack’s first solo exhibition since becoming a resident artist at the Goldmark Cultural Center. After five years of great personal transition and loss, Womack has created a group of very intimate works.

The paintings are deeply respective, revealing vulnerability and authenticity however, the overwhelming sense of the collection exudes power, fortitude, and hope.

Within each individual piece is a personal mark symbolizing the artist, her current life, or her past.

About the Artist
Downtown Dallas resident Maureen Womack received her degree from the University of Texas at Austin and prefers abstract and non-representational styles. Womack’s notable shows were held at the 500X Gallery, The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco, Gallery @1300 on Dragon Street, The Rising Gallery, Design Within Reach, and the Red Bull Art of Can. Womack was commissioned to create 100 original pieces for the Omni Dallas Hotel and co-produced and painted Icons of Dallas in 2012, an installation for the CBS building on North Central Expressway.

“I work mostly in acrylics, but the paint is always mixed with a medium, making it thicker. This slower drying process, allows freedom to blend and move the paint, and create significant textures. I rarely paint with a brush, but rather a knife, and I always go back with tools to add depth, or scrape away to reveal the under paint.

I like the mystery that subtle layering creates. At first glance one image might be seen, but with more time, hidden surprises can be discovered underneath. Messy and complicated can also be beautiful.”
